Dr. Barry Stewart graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College with a doctorate in Chiropractic and earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Stewart received his chiropractic license from the Virginia Board of Medicine in 1999. Dr. Stewart also has post-graduate training in acupuncture. He is a member of the Virginia Chiropractic Association. Dr. Stewart has been voted the best chiropractor in Chesapeake five times by readers of the Virginian Pilot. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Dr. Stewart uses a “whole person approach” when taking care of his patients. By combining the very best chiropractic techniques and state of the art physiotherapy procedures, Dr. Stewart helps his patients achieve and maintain a journey to good health. He specializes in low force techniques with the Pro-Adjuster and diversified manual techniques, and he also uses specialized spinal decompression and flexion-distraction for acute low back pain. Dr. Stewart has advanced training in auto accident injuries. Various therapeutic modalities are used in the office to assist in the healing process, including, massage therapy, low-level laser therapy, ultrasound, intersegmental traction, trigger point therapy, electric muscle stimulation. Dr. Stewart uses a personalized treatment plan for each patient that can also include corrective exercises and nutritional and lifestyle counseling.
